About the Book

Sirr-e-Dilbaran (Secrets of the Beloveds), written in the 1940s by a revered
Sufi master, Syed Muhammad Zauqi Shah RA (1878–1951), from the Indian
Sub-continent. This work explains the technical terms of Sufism in an easy to understand
language, reinforced by the author's own spiritual experiences.
Arranged alphabetically, in the order of the original urdu book, it clarifies key
concepts of the sufi tradition, while dispelling misconceptions about the sufi
way.
Translated by eminent Sufi scholars, the work retains its essence and depth.
The encyclopedia covers topics such as dream interpretation, music in Islam,
the spiritual heart (qalb), the marks of a true guide, and subtle satanic
influences. An appendix, The Grades of Being, charts the six stages of divine
descent into the realms of existence.
A timeless resource for researchers of the Sufi tradition, students and most of
